Search across 2 separate CMSMS installs

Hi there,

This post is more about ideas and possibilities than a complete, step by step solution.

What I'd like to be able to do, is use the core search functionality from the latest version of CMSMS, and search across 2 separate CMSMS installs, each with their own database.

So, for example, if each site had a news article displayed, a search on either site would check the index for both sites and return both news articles.

At the moment, I'm not sure this is doable, so I'm just looking for a yes, no, or that is very difficult.

I'm consulting for a client that is willing to pay / or sponsor for this work to be done. I just need some idea of time / complexity to go back with. Or to tell them it can't be done.
