[solved] Permissions problems

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

[solved] Permissions problems

Post by jimbowes »

Hi,

I'm running CMSMS 1.25 and there are permission issues - I can't add modules, or upload news images. I have changed the CHMOD settings but this makes no difference.

Are there some PHP functions that maybe need enabling? The CMS is saying it cannot write to the folders in question.

Normally CHMODing the folders will do it.

Is this the first time you have run a copy of CMSMS on the server that you are having trouble with (to establish if its the site or the server)

Try adding this tag to a page to give you more info, it should tell you if you the permissions set right and if you are running in safe mode etc......

Thanks for the reply, in the end I did a completely fresh install in a subdirectory and then pointed that installation at the original database - it worked! I'm not sure why but all is fine now.

I've put the tag in for future use though - thanks for the tip.

Best
