I have a client that is provided with professional photography and they have full rights to use the images. The photos all have meta information containing copyright, when, where, who, etc... For some reason, their images do not play well with CMSMS at all. I can upload them but I'm unable to resize them and when I do upload them, no thumbnail is auto created.
I thought it might have something to do with them being high resolution (300dpi) but I have tested other high res images and I'm able to work with them just fine. All photos are provided as JPGs and the color mode is RGB.
I've experienced the same issues with these photos provided by the same photographer using other open source apps (CuteNews) using GD where I can successfully upload them but I cannot resize or manipulate them. I HAVE been able to work with these photos in Gallery2 where thumbnail and resizing work just fine.
I tried removing all meta info and re-saving a photo and then uploading but that didn't make a difference. So the issue definitely seems to be related to the images themselves.
If it matters: the issue has been persistent since v1.2.3
Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Image Resizing/Manipulation/Auto thumbnail
It more than likely has to do with the size of the images, width x height not file size, I've seen this before with large, width x height, images, they may want to resize before uploading, sure they can do that as they are a pro.
...
Large, width x height, images on the web take a long time to load and most digital cameras now a days take huge images...

Yeah, I think you're right. After trying to upload a few other high res image, it seems ImageManager is getting choked up by images with large pixel height/width dimension. The cut-off seems to be around 2,500px. Any bigger than that and it's impossible to work with them. Interesting enough though, they do upload OK.
For me this is not a problem since I'm plenty familiar with Photoshop, however the client is not very tech savvy at all, which is why CMSMS is a great solution. I'm trying to remove myself from the CM all together. My hope was to have them upload and manipulate the photos to be web safe using the ImageManager. Obviously I don't want them trying to place a 2500 wide image in the content as this would break everything.
Is there anyway/anywhere I can adjust the setting to allow physically, larger images? Is this related to GD?
