reset admin user name and password

I think my site has been hack. I have followed all the instruction uploaded 1.3 and used my backup database which is clean but I cannot change the admin user name and password. I would really like to change this to something new- any ideas?

I have reset to admin admin in database but want to change to something a little harder to guess, I HAVE searched and searched, thats why I have come here, thanks for any help in advance.

maybe i'm asking the wrong question-how can i generate a new password string to enter in the database?

reset the admin password to one of the KNOWN hashes..
login to the back-end using the KNOWN password that goes with that hash..
then look under 'user preferences/my account' to change that password to something else..
