Instaling XML themes

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

Instaling XML themes

Post by Ella123 »

No red x is appearing when I install an xml theme. I am following these instructions:

http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Download_Themes.html

"In site admin go to Layout » Theme Manager second tab 'Import', Browse to find .xml file on your comp. dbl. click it, should now be showing in the box, click Import, it will take you back to first tab.

Now go to Layout » Templates under 'Active' you see a red X click that to activate the theme/template, now you can use it..."

There is just no red X on my page. There are theme names there, but no X.

Any advice please?

It should have template names then the other calls above, do you see green check marks under active for all templates...

Under default you should have only one green check all the rest should have red X under active all should be green check...

Have you looked in Users & Groups > Group Permissions > admin to ensure you have all rights/prmissions?...

Template                           Default     Active
CSSMenu left + 1 column   Set              Set  Set All Pages Attach Stylesheets Copy Edit Delete

Ok, I am  running CMS Made Simple 1.2.4 , mySQL version 4.1.22 and php 4.4.5.

I am following these instructions:

"In site admin go to Layout » Theme Manager second tab 'Import', Browse to find .xml file on your comp. dbl. click it, should now be showing in the box, click Import, it will take you back to first tab.

Now go to Layout » Templates under 'Active' you see a red X click that to activate the theme/template, now you can use it..."

There is just no red X on my page. There are theme names there, but no red Xs. There are green ticks for the themes already running. Several weeks back I did successfully install a theme but now there are no red Xs.

I have set permissions for admin to be able to manage themes but there are still no red Xs appearing.

Thanks

Does the one you imported have a green check next to it, can you use it?

The one I installed soon after installing CMSMS, called orangegreyshadow, does have a green check next to it. However the new themes that I installed last week do not. Attaching image to show you. Also, the green checks should be clickable - but they are not. I also looked at this on a friend's PC and his sites with CMSMS also had non-clickable green ticks, and no red X's. I am sure that when I  first installed CMSMS there were clickable red X's and clickable green checks.

Sorry I'm an infrequent updater here... will try to be better.

Hope this makes sense.

Thanks

Yep those are supposed to be there, you need to go to Layout > Templates and there you should see the active check marks, that's where you mark them as active or not, the image you show is from themes...

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I am new to CMSMS and I'm having the same problem. I have imported the xml files for two new themes that I want to try. All my permissions are set as directed, and I am the site admin so I have all permissions.

When I go into the theme layout page, all the preinstalled theme templates have one green check next to them and the default one I am using has two green checks.  The two new themes I imported have nothing next to them, not even an X, so I can't activate them.  What am I doing wrong?

thanks

[Solved] Re: Instaling XML themes

Never mind, I figured it out. Sorry about that.

After importing the theme, you have to go under Layouts -> Templates to activate it, and then it will show up as activated under Theme Manager.  I should have read the last reply a little more carefully

thanks

Theme Manager is only for Exporting and Importing themes, Layout > Templates is where you need to look for all other template work...
