File permissions all messed up after captcha install by ftp and update--Please?

Post by aspires »

Hello:
PHP 5
MYSQL 5
content made simple 1.2.5
In file manager I cannot access my files since the permissions seem wrong and I cannot view my images via the image manager all of a sudden either.

I installed Captcha and 1.2.5 update and now have file permissions problems. My admin user account can't access my files in either case for some reason.

#1:
What is the best way to change permissions
a) via ftp software (have CoffeeCup)
b) control panel of host (netfirms)
c) neither do it this way...........

#2
What should the permissions be for best security?

#3 Is this the fix I am looking for?

Thank you so much!

Andrea

Read quick install steps 4, 5, then 12 to find what folders/files need what permissions...

I've never used coffee FTP, but I've never had a problem with Filezilla...

There are a couple of folders/files that some times may need permissions adjustments after install, that should show in post install message...

Hi!

Every file in File Manager has this message under FileInfo/File Owner column:
--Add Me - module:FileManager string:unknown--

Even the ones with 777 file permissions.

Image Manager says this:

Invalid base directory: uploads/images

Uploads adn images folders have CHMOD 777.

Thank you very much for your help. I read the recommended sections already and applied the recommended file permissions without solving this issue.

Here is someone else with the same thing but no solution given:

Is there someone out there please who would like to comment on my post and my problem please?

I am "this" close to fnishing this site and now I cannot upload images, or access the images through the admin panel. I am quite at a loss. Surely someone has a solution and this is not a new problem.

The Image Manager and the File Manager are affected.

Thank you
