MySQL versions

Post by bfctradingpost »

Hi,

Just a quick question. I'm trying to set up a website on a NetNation Linux server. Unfortunately they don't support third party software, eg. phpMyAdmin, which I had to install and setup myself.

Latest phpMyAdmin version 2.11.6

I got it to work eventually, I can log into phpMyAdmin and connect to my database, everything looks normal, however it warns me that:

! Your PHP MySQL library version 3.23.47 differs from your MySQL server version 4.1.14. This may cause unpredictable behaviour.

My question:

Would this have an effect on how CMSMadeSimple functions?

I did a fresh install (cmsmadesimple-1.2.5) - installed with no problems, however, I did notice a couple of things that were missing whilst in Admin Panel examples below:

1.) Browser title bar should normally show:

CMS Made Simple Site - Home - Mozilla Firefox

Instead it shows:

CMS Made Simple Site - - Mozilla Firefox

(without the 'Home' or any other admin page I may be on at the time)

2.) Banner image not showing

Whilst in 'Manage Banners' - when viewing or adding a banner - it would normally show the actual banner image down at the bottom.

Instead it shows:

company name company name

3.) WYSIWYG

Whilst editing a page or global content block - TinyMCE WYSIWYG doesn't load up properly i.e. one minute it's there and the next it's not.

When TinyMCE WYSIWYG does load up - you would normally see the actual CSS styles that you've used i.e. backgrounds and user defined text styles etc... But it doesn't.

The CSS drop down list on the tool bar - has nothing inside of it, where it would normally have about 16 styles pre-listed.

Whilst trying to edit the HTML, it doesn't save, when either 'Apply' or 'Submit' is pressed. Instead it just reverts to what ever was in the original HTML code at the time.

(I've been through the forum to see if I could fix this particular issue. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I've tried installing different versions - all of which have the same issue. I've tried in different internet browsers - all of which have the same issue.)

So for those of you who may have similar issues, the only thing I can think of, it might be the Host Provider and the fact that I had to install phpMyAdmin myself, which entailed a warning message:

! Your PHP MySQL library version 3.23.47 differs from your MySQL server version 4.1.14. This may cause unpredictable behaviour.

Now I'm a newbie at all this, I don't class myself as being a web developer, but I'm trying. I've already contacted my Host Provider about this, to try and upgrade the PHP MySQL library version so that it at least matches the server version.

In the mean time, an answer for the above question would be very much appreciated:

Would this have an effect on how CMSMadeSimple functions?

And whiles I'm here, would anyone know how I can upgrade my PHP MySQL library version?

I hope the above information helps out others, who might be experiencing the same issues.

Cheers,

Patrick

Obvious, isn't it ?
CMSms (and lots of other SQL backed software) requires a sane database context to be run.
