<SOLVED> Cache Issues
<SOLVED> Cache Issues
Hi Guys
Just moved my v1.2.5 CMSMS install over to my new hosting (Servage - using php5) and having got everything set up and working - paths to site root, admin, db etc - all seemed well, however I think I've got a problem with the cache - when I update my content in the admin area the changes don't take place on the site until I've emptied the CMSMC cache in site admin, global settings - trouble is I have to do this after every change or it won't show...
I've tried a clean install too as a test and have the same problem - is it something in the server settings, if so what should I be looking for or asking them to change?
I've read through quite a few posts but can't seem to find an answer - any help much appreciated...
Cheers
John

Re: Cache Issues
It sounds like you should check the file permissions of /tmp and the files and directories under it and make sure they are writeable by the web server.
Re: Cache Issues
hi tinhat
I've checked those files/folders and all are writable - that said I can't change the permissions on the contentcache.phpfile - currently 644 (user writable) - is this where the problem lies - is there a way to force the permissions on this file?
EDIT: managed to change the permissions - no joy, still the same problem

Re: Cache Issues
contentcache.phpfile is cache, so you have to delete them!
/root/temp/cache/contentcache.php<---- is cache
try please and then report

Re: Cache Issues
Hi Nuno - thanks for the suggestion...
I treid that but I'm still having the same problem - I deleted the files as you suggested but that doesn't solve the problem - I still have to do a full site cache clear to see a simple text change refelected on the site...
I've posted a ticket with my hosting company to see if they can help...

Re: Cache Issues
Hi Nuno
My link to where?
my website is at http://www.gentgoddard.co.uk
is this what you need?
I've heard back from the hosting company who basically said to tell them what settings I need and they will try and sort it...
Thinking about this some more the only difference I can see between the instances of the CMSMS is the server environment - I've pretty much ruled out the folder/file permissions being the issue.
Thanks again for your interest in my problems...

Re: Cache Issues
Not really related to your problem, but for a genealogy site, you should look into PhpGedView:
http://www.phpgedview.net/
It should be possible to integrate it into CMSMS - they have a wiki with info regarding CMS Integration.
