How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS? [SOLVED]
How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS? [SOLVED]
Using CMSMS 1.2.5
I need to embed my Slide Show Pro on a CMSMS page. The Flash file shows up, but the images within the player don't.
I found this in the board,
http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 300.0.html
but I couldn't figure out how to make it work.
I went to SSP's support, and all they had was directions for WordPress which needed it's own plugin.
For now, I just made a link to the HTML that has the Flash working, but I'd much prefer to have the gallery in my CMSMS page.
Could someone please help me out to make this work?
Thanks in advance!

Something like this?...
http://multiintech.com/galleries/embede ... iewer.html
You need to give a little more info on the steps you've taken so far...

Thanks so much for the quick reply Mark, mark wrote: Something like this?...

Unfortunately, I don't think the link you provided is quite what I had in mind... might be.
Basically, Slide Show Pro is a Gallery using Flash.
Here's a link to SSP http://slideshowpro.net/ which should give you a basic idea how it looks. It requires an xml file, the images obviously, and a swf file.
What I did at first was copy the HTML that Flash created and copied the code, and change the code to link to the swf file in the folder. Here's the HTML code
This allows me to see the player, but there are no images or info in the player, so it's not seeing the XML File maybe?
Everything needed for the Gallery are in the folder "slideshow". So when that didn't work, I just made a pop-up link to the HTML file in the dame folder, which works, but again, I don't want a pop-up... just the gallery embedded.
I didn't get to far with the the instructions provided on the other post, because, quite simply, I didn't understand it. I made a UDT OK, but I didn't understand what to do with the SHTML. I guess I need a little more step by step instructions.
I also tried just placing the swf file using the WYSIWIG (TinyMCE)... that didn't work either
Thanks again
Re: How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS?
I got a little further with my SSP to work... but not all the way.
I had to make the .xml file that holds info of the images ans such and absolute link
So, Flash has to look for http://www.mysite.com/uploads/images/sl ... images.xml
instead of the relative images.xml
Now the SWF gallery window will show up with the thumbnail numbers as well as other info that wasn't showing up, but no actual images.
So I thought I should also change all the links to the images to be "absolute" in the images.xml as well,
But the images still will not show up.
I'm still at a loss.
Any help is greatly appreciated

OK... got even further if anyone is interested, and finds themselves needing to embed Slide Show Pro into their CMSMS page.
This is a sample of what the .xml need to look like:
IF it works in the IE's, then it's all good and I'll mark it as solved.
Off Topic, but How did this post end up in "The Lounge"? I thought the post was topical for "Product Support"

So far this works in Safari and in FireFox. Currently, I have no access to a PC to see if it works in IE 6 or 7

Bob,
Thanks for the post. It was extremely helpful in figuring the CMSMS and SSP integration. Rock on!

It was most likely moved do to it is a question about doing something in CMSMS and not really a product support question...

Re: How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS?
@ Lon,
your more than welcome
From what I hear, it is working in IE7 also (as for the other IE's, I don't know), so I'll conider this issue as "Solved"
@ Mark,
I'm sorry. I've seen many other posts regarding the use of other 3rd party programs into CMSMS, and I didn't see how implementing a Gallery program (a pretty popular program I might add) didn't warrant a post in the Product Support, or even "Tips & Tricks"... like incorporating a popular blog prog such as WP or a Forum prog such as PHPbb2 into CMSMS... and I honestly thought that "The Lounge" was for discussions totally non-related to CMSMS and just for general BSing.

Re: How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS? [SOLVED]
Implementing a 3rd party application into CMS is not a 'Product Support' problem.
Did you post a similar question in the SSP Forum? Probably not, because it's out of scope. Same here.
The 'Tips & Tricks' forum is for answers, not questions.
A better place may have been the 'Modules & Addons' forum, but that's specifically for modules and addons made for CMS Made simple. I see from your code below that you are using the album module, but you didn't explain that in any of your posts, which possibly would have allowed the question to go into the Modules & Addons forum.
Therefore, the fallback is 'The Lounge'... for all other questions relating somewhat to CMS Made simple, but not directly related to a problem or question about the package.
I don't recall if it was me or somebody else that moved this post.... but judging by the first post in the thread.... this is the correct place for it.

Re: How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS? [SOLVED]
No Sir, I did not... I did find some answers however that lead me to fix the problem I had. I would have posted a similar question if after a long search on their forum I didn't find an answer or direction. Thanks for your assumption though.calguy1000 wrote: Implementing a 3rd party application into CMS is not a 'Product Support' problem.

Right, and I think I answered the problem I had, and maybe others might want the same info, ergo, "Tips & Tricks" might seem relevantThe 'Tips & Tricks' forum is for answers, not questions.
Right, which is why posted on the product support, based on other posts that I saw posted. It goes like this, I do a search on your Forum for "Slide Show Pro", came across a post that tried to help, but didn't, so I created a new post on the same board (in this case Product Support), in the hope that maybe someone could lead me in the right direction.A better place may have been the 'Modules & Addons' forum, but that's specifically for modules and addons made for CMS Made simple.
I think your wrong on your assumption.I see from your code below that you are using the album module, but you didn't explain that in any of your posts, which possibly would have allowed the question to go into the Modules & Addons forum.
My question had nothing to do with the Album Module, (which is also based on a 3rd party prog if I'm not mistaken, but you all managed to make it work with a Module in CMSMS... but I digress) From what I see, the code I provided (the .xml and the html shows where the directory to where I keep my Slide Show Pro I.E. http://www.mysite.com/uploads/images/sl ... bum1/large)
yes I do use the Album Module, (because I'm still deciding on what Gallery prog I want to use) but that's set up in a different directory, and I can't see how you would know that I use the Album Module if I didn't provide a link to my site or any info regarding the Album Module... please clarify.
Implementing a 3rd party application into CMS is not a 'Product Support' problem.

I could do my own assumptions too and know that it was you CG, but I try to avoid assumingI don't recall if it was me or somebody else that moved this post....

Fine, you and your team might want to consider clarifying what each board is used for. For the past 2 years, I never thought to go to "The Lounge" for answers on CMSMS, and honestly, most of the topical posts that I needed help with were either in "Product Support" or "Modules/Add-ons". Aside from that, if someone has a working website, with add-ons that are fairly popular, and said person wants to re-tool the website using CMSMS, is your plan to dump them in "The Lounge"? What's the difference between "The Lounge" and "General Discussion" then? Maybe you should have a board that discusses these 3rd party issues?but judging by the first post in the thread.... this is the correct place for it.
In the meantime, I suppose that we should all "respec-yor-authorit-I!"

1. Now that you have a good answer, feel free to post a well worded howto in the forums.
2. I have re-worded the descriptions in the forum somewhat to help a bit
(but this was done a couple of months ago too). it's an ongoing process.
3. I added some changes to the README-FIRST topics too.

Not a prob,... where? Tips&Tricks? "The Lounge"? Wiki?1. Now that you have a good answer, feel free to post a well worded howto in the forums.
I see that... I looked at it last night, and I see references to some of my complaints (regarding Forum Rules see http://forum.cmsmadesimple.org/index.ph ... 290.0.html) revised as of today, so I see the "on-going progress"2. I have re-worded the descriptions in the forum somewhat to help a bit
(but this was done a couple of months ago too). it's an ongoing process.

Do understand, that I visit a lot of Forums, and there are boards that are totally unrelated to the site I visit. For Instance, there might be a board labeled similarly to "The Lounge" which is just a meeting place to discuss all non-related issues. Many forums have boards that are set up for people with similar interests (in this case CMSMS) to maybe talk about other things they have in common (like say NHL or the current U.S. Election or which Dave won on American Idol or the latest episode of Lost ... kind of like an "Office Cooler") So you might want to clarify "The Lounge", and while your at it, to bring more peeps in (or keep what you have), have a board for discussions that are Totally non-website prog/design/cmsms discussions... just a thought

I read those too before I posted my issue with SSP...3. I added some changes to the README-FIRST topics too.

Re: How do I use SlideShowPro in CMSMS? [SOLVED]
No, if you have a tip or a trick or a solution to a problem please put a well worded, and well documented solution into the Tips & Tricks forum.
People will either critique it, provide alternates, and/or additions, etc.... that's fine, that's what it's for.
Let me re-iterate:
The official boards/forums/channnels are for problems or discussions related to the CMS Core and the CMS Core only.
The Modules/Addon board/forum/channel is for the discussion if, and support of 3rd party addons written FOR cms made simple.
The Tips/Tricks album is kinda a general board for sharing solutions as to how you solved a particular problem you are facing, so that others can find it, critique it, enhance it, discuss it, etc.
The 'Lounge' is a catch all. But topics there should relate somewhat to CMS Made Simple.... We're not here to discuss the latest antics of Hillary Clinton or the results of the last NHL Playoff game.
