[solved] Pretty URLs & Server Error 500

Hi,

I am developing a new website on my local machine prior to moving it to my web host. I am trying to get pretty urls working through mod_rewrite and have followed the instructions provided here: http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... l_Settings
and copied and pasted the content for the .htaccess file directly from the page, I updated the config.php file manually.

I would like to test this locally before migrating the site to my host... but no success to date. I have no knowledge of Apache so am completely stuck.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

The configuration I am using is XAMPP:  Apache/2.2.8 (Win32) DAV/2 mod_ssl/2.2.8 OpenSSL/0.9.8g mod_autoindex_color PHP/5.2.5

Hello,

you want to activate mod_rewrite on your xampp install ? This is a question for the xampp support forum or the Apache support forum. It is not CMSms specific.
