User specific access to individual pages

Post by lasse »

I want certain user to edit certain pages throught CMSMS back-end.

They cannot have access to editing all of the pages on the site. Only a few.

How can this be done? The "user control" in CMSMS only support "edit all pages"..

Any add-ons? Someone willing/able to make one?

Thanks in advance

Kind regards

lasse, there are dozens of posts on the forum requesting and discussing exactly this topic.

Take a look at sJg's UserID and ProtectedPages modules and a more recent one by calguy1000 is in the works I beleive.

Try doing a search of the forums before creating a new post otherwise we get duplicate information everywhere. Cheers!

for the first release, my FrontEndUsers module will only work for front end users, I'll be thinking about how to make this work for backend stuff after it's got a couple of versions under its belt.

Patricia: You're right on the money! Thank you.. It's working like a charm.

Allthought I have a small usability problem:
The new user only have permission to edit one or two pages - but the admin-page still shows 5 pages of content (no pages though). This means that my user has to pick page 2 to find the page I'm allowing him to edit. It works - but the user must know that he has to "look" for the page(s). They're in their original subpage under pages..

Nothing I can do, right..?

Yeah, there isn't much that can be done at this point.  This paging bug has been fixed and will be in the next release.  Sorry about the trouble. :)

Ah, a bug. And here I was thinking it was just me again. :)
