Strange log entries - google search related

Since about a month, in my apache log appeared a lot of entries like this:

66.249.70.212 - - [13/Apr/2008:09:14:21 +0200] "GET /index.php?cntnt01searchinput=searchedword&mact=Search%2Ccntnt01%2Cdosearch%2C0&submit=Invia HTTP/1.1" 200 23752 "-" "Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Googlebot/2.1; +http://www.google.com/bot.html)"

The "searchedwords" are always different from row to row, and always related to my site.

Assuming 66.249.70.212 is a google IP, why they use a so huge number of  "amp;" strings, according to you?

a traceroute here goes to crawl-66-249-70-212.googlebot.com (66.249.70.212).

I don't know what these "&" are. Strange.
