Are internal menu links relative or absolute?

Post by burlington »

I am assuming that internal automatically generated menu links are relative but could I have confirmation please.

Thank you

They look absolute to me.
Of course they are dynamically generated so will adjust themselves appropriately if you move/rename the page.

Yes, I agree but I wonder if that is just the way that they appear on the 'View Source' page and that in actual terms they are relative.

I ask the question because sometime in the future I am going to have to move the site from one domain extension type to another within the same server, ie from .co.uk to .com. My web host tells me that this is fine if the links are relative, but could well cause problems if they are absolute.

A bit of a hreadache really and would appreciate any advice anyone can give.

Thank you

Hi Martin,

All your links should move just fine as they are dynamically generated.

I've moved many cmsms sites and once you've updated your config.php file all links will work just fine.
