Too many redirects occurred error message after trying to implement pretty urls

Post by harleyquinn »

After trying to implement pretty urls (http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php/FAQ/Installation/Pretty_URLs,) I got this error message in both Safari and Fire Fox "Too many redirects occurred trying to open http://..."

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, because I used this same method on a differnt site using cms made simple and it worked with no problems. The only difference is the host provider. In this case, the site is hosted on Blue Host.

Any one else having this issue?

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I know this is a really out of date thread but...

Did you ever have any luck solving this problem? I'm having the same issue when trying to use BlueHost.com for my host...

Retry with http://wiki.cmsmadesimple.org/index.php ... l_Settings
If the issue is BH specific and not CMSms specific, it should be asked to BH support.

Unfortunatly, mod_rewrite isn't a perfect science.  There are ways to get mod_rewrite do logging so that you can track down what it's doing.  It'll probably require a bit of messing around and googling to get it working, though.  But, at least if you have a log, it'll be easier for us to help you track it down.
