Editing disabled

Post by Nitai »

Hello,

Sorry that I might ask something here that you already discussed but I don't know the exact terminology about the technical things and so I could not find descriptions of the problem that I have now. (I hope you will still be patient to help me.)

I am using the CMSMS for quite sometime, but something I did wrong and now when desiring to add new articles or to add something to the old ones I cannot see anymore no one of those icons for example, for creating links, for changing the letters, adding on a picture etc. - everything is gone.

I cannot anymore turn on and off the WYSIWYG nor the preview / options / main - buttons react anymore on the clicks.

Before this happened I already had problems with updating corrections to already uploaded files. In the preview the corrections would be visible but not on the website itself.

Please help.

Did you install a new module?

You mean the new version of cms?
Will that destroy the files I made for the website?

What version are you using?
What modules/versions do you have installed?

Can i just overlap the new version over old in the directory without losing whatever I had on the website?

You should install the latest version - 1.2.4

You can upload the files and do a fresh install, just don't create the tables or install the sample data when you get to that point in the installation. It will use your current tables and data.

Sorry I am a layman, what this means,
don't create the tables or install the sample

I can just copy all the new files within the directory?

Copy all of the CMSMS 1.2.4 files to your server.

Run the install script.

When you get to the database information page, uncheck the box "Create tables" and don't install the sample data (it's part of the install).

Thanks, upgrading helped to restore the editing functions, but now I lost the...I think it is called the header?...i mean in the upper part of the page now there is a logo of the cmsms. How can I change that? I remember i struggled with that one and probably did also improperly so now i lost the header or how you call that part

I also would like to get back the column from the left side of the page (template) where are very short messages...links to the news articles.

please help me to fix these few things

thnx

The Database Information page is part of the install process.

Select a template that has the sidebar.
