managing multiple subdomains (URLs) with one intallation

Help with getting the CMS CORE package up and running. This does not include 3rd party modules, PHP scripts, anything downloaded via module manager or from any external source.

managing multiple subdomains (URLs) with one intallation

Post by tonypb »

OK... i hope i can explain this correctly (and that I am in the right forum)

www.parentcompany.com will be hosted and would have "a" CMS installed (or created)

www.childcompany01.com
www.childcompany02.com
and so on (41 in total), would be subdomains and ALL use the same template - each would have their own individual URL name

one a regular static site i could have the main site be in the root folder, then create folders for each subdomain -

they would like to be able to manage all sites with "ONE" CMS installaion so that the admin doesnt have to login into each individual site's CMS to manage it. Then each individual "childcompany" should also be able to manage ONLY their own site. Can CMS Made Simple do this?

Hello,

Thank you for searching.

The feature is "not yet" here, true. Because everybody has his/her own idea on how it should work and how it should be implemented.

But reading your post I think you are able to "implement" (hum... adapt) a CMSms install to your needs :
-you clearly understand domains, virtualhosting, folders, static content...

-you have a clean "deployment plan" in mind (each company manages -only- own site...)
Hence I think it is just extending the virtualhosting for your :
-each company has its virtualhost with its config.php
-when adding one you copy or symlink from a "source install".

Have fun with CMSms !-)
