Re: access.log and error.log can crash server
Also I see there is a need to set up some sort of disk space monitor in general, so that single-purpose CMSMS linux servers that run unattended for long periods of time without any problems with automatic data backup, will at least send email alerts if the disk is getting 90+% full.

Re: access.log and error.log can crash server
I apologize for not using six different distributions of linux before posting. God forbid there be consistency across operating systems, or any ability of the CMSMS installer to detect such logging variations and deal with them automatically. What's that "made simple" bit supposed to mean,...

access.log and error.log can crash server
If you're running CMSMS on linux in a virtual machine using the default install, then you're probably using a "small" virtual disk such as 8 gigabytes. Please note that there are two cmsms log files that can grow to hugomongous proportions over several years, consume all available disk spa...

Detect address range of user, restrict access based on that?
Is there a way for CMSMS to detect if the client is accessing the page from a specific address range? We would like to create some "internal" pages which can only be accessed from within our NAT address range (example: net 192.168.1.0, mask 255.255.255.0), and which are denied access for e...

Linux bash script: db/web backup to remote fs
I have written a bash script for automating backups of CMSMS to a remote filesystem using Ubuntu linux, that: -- logs the results and errors in a friendly manner -- mounts a remote filesystem (user specified) -- backs up the SQL and website (user specified) -- transfers to the remote fs, making a di...

Tell CMSMS to use http proxy? (outgoing http does not work)
The CMSMS upgrade page step 2 is complaining to me that "Outgoing http connections do not appear to work!" Well, yeah, we got this firewall thing. And this http proxy filter thing. All outgoing connections must go through the proxy. CMSMS is installed on Ubuntu, and the proxy server is set...

Started wiki article on Backup and Restore
I dislike the fact that the documentation is so vague on the backup and restore process, since this site's documentation is otherwise written from the standpoint of "you don't need to be an expert if you just follow this quick guide". Backing up is only vaguely described in the upgrade sec...

Also affects cmsmadesimple, version 1.5.4
Thank you very much, this immediately solved the horrible slowness of my brand-new install of CMSMS. (I have no prior experience or content creation with this software.) Dell PowerEdge 2900 / Xeon E5335 Quad 2 ghz / 8 gigabytes RAM Windows Server 2003 Enterprise R2 VMWare Server 1.0.8 VM: Ubuntu 8.0...
