xinha -- how to change the path to uploads?

Hi,
for some reason the TinyMCE refuses to show its buttons (after a clean installation with 1.0.2). Some kind of javascript trouble? I'm not using the FCKeditor for its problems when applying a link to an image. The image just disappears ยป:- ( .
So I switched to Xinha, but this editor can't recognise the native uploads directory. All images (after uploading with Xinha) are well hidden in a sub-sub-sub-sub-sub directory deep in the system. Is there a special Xinha-config file where are all desciptions of the roots?
