Paralell Sites: English and Russian

Hi. I'm trying to figure the best way to run parallel sites.
I've read many posts on dual language, two sites on one dbase, etc., but am still not sure how to proceed.
Here's what I'd like:
1. site in Russian w/separate admin/edit section
2. site in Eng w/ separate admin/edit section
I think it would be better to keep management of pages for Russian site and English site completely separate, since the sites aren't 100% full mirrors in translation.
Should I just install two instances of CMSMS? One with a /ru home directory and one with a /en home directory?
Looking for advice.

Well, in this case you're not talking about parallel sites. You're talking about 'similar' sites. maybe with shared templates.
Your best bet in this case, would be to create the templates in one site, copy them to another, along with the stylesheets, and whatever UDT's, and GCB's, you need, and then create your groups and users in each site that have similar permission to add/edit/delete pages.
But, that's just $0.02CDN.

Thanks for the $0.02CDN.
Yeah, I think requiring separate user/admin access = two installs.
Any knowledge of processor pull when multiple instances are installed?

I´ve got this same problem, but for me the two separate installs didn´t work
because the admin pages ended up changing both sites. So for example, if
you´d make a change in the english version, the russian changed as well...
Got a tip about the multilang (
http://dev.cmsmadesimple.org/projects/multilang/)
but I think it would´ve required me to re-install the whole CMSMS, which would
have caused me to lose all my current work, right?

You mention the admin page changed both sites. Were you using two separate databases?

I actually don't even know... how do I choose to use separate databases? I´m really more
of a designer than coder, so I´m not that good with these kind of things...

Did you use different table prefix for each installation?

Just cleaning up old posts.
I ended up doing a parallel install and it works great.
Just installed to instances of CMSMS w/separate directories, databases, passwords...Ended up with two admin sites and two web sites. No problems. I set up two folders/directories, for instance, CMSr for the Russian install and CMSe for the English install.

Hello,
a little followup : several CMSms instances can share a unique database which is "partitioned" by table_prefixes, as said by webform above. See this "
howto" install on a non dedicated database.
