Beware, I am a beginner at this...

I like the above menu scheme, but on the home page you get a big space where the left navigation normally appears. I would like to modify this menu system so that, on the home page only, this space can be used for an extra column.

Can anyone help with this? Thanks.

Further to this...

I guess what I need is "Top Simple Navigation + 2 columns" - but only for the home page. Any suggestions on how to do this?

When editing pages you can specify which template the page uses, so every page on your site can have a diff. template, such as this site...
