CMSMS admin really slow - hosting issue?

Hi all
I've got an issue with every instance of CMSMS thats running with a certain hosting company... the admin area is running extremely slowly, particularly with submitting changes. This would suggest to me theres some issue talking to/writing to the database (but i dont know much about these things!)
The hosts are pretty unhelpful - saying everything is fine their end ... but is has to be a change at the hosting level as thats the common denominator. The problem is that as CMSMS is a little niche they probably dont have any other customers complaining... I guess Wordpress sites must be running ok... any thoughts on what the issue could be / what I can go back to them with? Why for instance would CMSMS be having issues where Wordpress doesnt?
