Thumbnails between FileManager, FilePicker and TinyMCE

Hi there
I have an issue that I cannot seem to find a solution to:
1/ Upload an image using File Manager
2/ Thumbnail appears in File Manager
3/ Under TinyMCE (using the "image" or "responsivefilemanager" plugins ) the thumbnail does NOT appear and instead you see the thumb_xxxx and original files but no visual thumb.
4/ If you upload an image using TinyMCE you see the thumbnail - but - not in File Manager
From my research they are both handling thumbnails in different ways. How can you make them the same?
