I need additional fields for languages for each image description. I already set an additional field in Gallery > Field definifions, called it "english" and set it to apply on "images". Then in the template I placed {$image->fields.english.value}

But when I go in gallery to add the english text for an image, no such field "english" appears (only the usual Title and Comment field).

Any idea what I am doing wrong? Thanks very much!

Did you make sure it's an Images field def, and not a Gallery field def?
When you create the field def, there's a dropbox for that, and I think the default is Gallery which means it will only show up on the Gallery edit screen, not the Image edit screen.

From memory, you have to "Edit" the image to access any custom fields. Maybe you're doing that but just in case...
