CGBlog Apply button doesn't behave as expected

Create new cgblog article. Put title, contents, tags, etc. Hit Apply. Nothing appears to happen except that the Apply button is "oranged."
Change status to published, hit Apply again. Same thing. No indication either time of the change being made.
On the frontend the blog does not show the new article.
Click Submit, and everything works. The problem for my workflow is that this bounces me back to the blog index page. When I have to make edits to the article, I have to click back into the article to edit it. It is a slight pain, not a big deal.
More importantly, I would expect that if Apply doesn't "apply" on the first creation of the blog article, it would be grayed out.
Better yet, if the user creates the entry and hits Apply, this should do what Submit does, but keep the user in the "article edit" screen. It should add the article to the database, and, if status is published, the article should show on the frontend.
