come si aggiorna cms made simple alla nuova versione?

Controlla però prima se i moduli da te installati supportano la nuova versione, nel caso aggiornali all'ultima.
Il mio consiglio è comunque testare l'upgrade su un'altra macchina o al più in locale

Upgrading
To upgrade from a previous version of CMS Made Simple, do like this:
1. Backup your database and all the files in your CMS Made Simple folder on the server.
2. Download the latest CMS Made Simple package.
3. Upload the new files, overwriting all the files on your server.
4. Navigate to /install/upgrade.php. That automatically makes any necessary changes in the database.
5. Delete the install folder after a successful upgrade
Notes:
* The FeedbackForms module is incompatible with 1.0 (fatal errors in admin area) before version 0.9.14, and you can't install that version prior to 1.0, so uninstall it before doing an upgrade to 1.0.
* If you don't have them already, install the new module manager and nuSOAP modules before installing upgrades to any other modules that you might need.
cioè....
come si fa il backup delle cartelle sul server?
e tutti i dati che (a quanto ho capito) sono nel database?
si può fare un backup di questi?
è anche possibile scaricarli su pc?
non capisco niente
però il sito l'ho fatto, =)

Il backup file via FTP sul tuo PC
Il backup database via i tools del tuo provider (in genere tramite un pannello di controllo o phpmyadmin), esportando i dati sul tuo PC

ok...
credo di aver creato un file di backup, che poi non è nient'altro che un lunghissimo file di testo
ora resta un'ultimo dubbio
avendo la versione 0.13, posso istallare direttamente la versione 1.0.3?

Se hai effettuato il backup dei file e quello del database puoi provare a fare l'upgrade direttamente a 1.0.3.
La controindicazione potrebbero essere i moduli
non del "core" (News, FCKEditor) che potrebbero essere non compatibili con la versione 1.X, guarda sul forge nei relativi progetti e preleva già le versioni più recenti. Preventivamente disinstalla quelli che non hai dati o in cui vi sono pochissimi dati che puoi reinserire velocemente.

ho fatto il backup per sicurezza, uploadato tutti i file e aggiornato con successo... nessun problema da segnalare!
