I have a simple 4 page site on Centos 6/Apache 2.2, as we are upgrading server to Centos 7, I tried 'upgrading' /installing current build and got this:

what's my best path forward:

is this version OK to continue using ..?

can I upgrade sequentially...? 1.66 to.... 1.7/1.8/1.9/2.0

start again ?

No because there are lots of vulnerabilities corrected in the newer versions in the last 7 years since your installation. And loads of groovy new features.

Personally on such an old site AND with just 4 pages, assuming no other content, I would install a plain empty new version of the latest CMS Made Simple and install the content on there, you will be able to copy over templates almost unchanged from your old instance. And just copy over page content and images.

You basically upgrade to each major release.

Take a look and decide which option will suit you best. Either way, it will be worth the pain in the end.

I've managed to set up a new install as a test, and, I've also managed to move the old site to new server (after fiddling with some vhost conf)

I like your idea, and, tempted to give that a go... I'll see how I fare...
