When you apply a filter the reset of that filter is still a click to many away. Besides that there are slight differences on how filters are reset or displayed when applied between core modules.

For example:
A set filter in Content Manager: Settings (Filter Applied)
A set filter in News: View Filter * View Filter
A set filter in Design Manager: Filter Filter Applied
A set filter in Admin Log: Filter (Applied)

Wouldn't it be easier to change the Filter link when a filter is set to two links:
Change Filter - Reset Filter

WRT the labeling of the dialogs etc. I can see your point with this type of inconsistency.

WRT the reset idea... I tend to disagree.

However, I don't feel it's worth changing this late in the beta stage. There is too much risk of damage for too little gain.

We will consider changing it after 2.2 is out the door.
