What is the difference and in which case expanded install makes sense?
And one more: if in the root where i expanded the cmsms 2.1.5 Installation is an old 1.12. cmsms Version present that should NOT be upgraded - how can i prevent this
All i want is a fresh and clean cmsms 2.1.5 install
(it was so easy in the past)

As i can't edit my own post from yesterday i answer myself:

The only install that worked on out 1&1 server is the expanded install. So the offered PHAR install did't work.
Since 2007 i did about 150 cmsms installations and upgrades on this server. The one now offered is the first to fail.
Is it still cms "made simple"??

What I do is create a new sub-directory and install in there, this keeps the install completely separate from anything one directory up. But perhaps I am not understanding you properly?
