Can I Pay Someone To Create a Mod? • Community Site •

I love the UI and the features of this CMS.  My main issue / reason for not using it for a TON of projects is the fact that when a user uploads an image, this image can be browsed in the "File Manager" and "Image Manager" by other users.

If someone can help me create a "Community Mod" then I'd be more than happy to pay for the development and share it with the community.

Maybe I should be more specific:

My wife's family needs a family reunion website. They are NOT tech savvy. I'm looking for a CMS that will allow them to login, create a page, upload images into that page, and edit that page.

Their content and images can't be edited by other members. All the main sections (in this case each family) would be listed in the menu and the content pages are listed below each main section. For example:

HOME

-Family 1
• Our 1st page
• Another page

-Family 2
• Here is our stuff

-Family 3
• Content 1
• Content 2
• Content 3

So, "Family 1" could add new pages/image and edit pages/images to their "Family 1" section but can NOT modify the other "Family's" pages/images.

I've been searching hi and low for a CMS that does this well.  cmsMadeSimple is SO CLOSE, but user's ability to browse and delete other user's images just won't work.

Am I seriously the only person that is looking for a CMS with this functionality?

Thanks!

You are asking for section control. The first CMS I ever came across was Mambo, and I remember this was discusssed endlessly.

Mambobrothers.com sell an access level addon, so I'm assuming this has still not been added.

It would be cool to have this. I'll contribute a little to the project if it can be done.

Perhaps we should have a contribution pledge system.

sanjay,

That's a great idea!  I don't know how tricky it is to get a bunch of people interested in something like this AND to get them all to agree on what features / functions should be required, but definitely worth a try.

For me, the NEED to haves are:
•  Each user can create and edit their OWN content page(s) but can't edit other user's content pages.
•  Each user can create and edit their OWN images but can't edit other user's images.

My NICE to haves are:
•  Each user can modify the navigation of their own pages, i.e., move pages around relative to each other (parents / children / siblings), but not relative to the other user's content pages (only admin users can do this).

What's nice is that I think this could be something baked into the core application as additional options (ie not a module) while still offering all the standard features / options.  That being said, if it has to be a module, so be it.

Hey All,

I'm back after a busy last few months and want to revisit this.  CMSMSr is still my top CMS for my project.  It is simple and elegant.  Other people are recommending Drupal, WebsiteBaker, WordPRess, etc. etc.

While CMSMS is still the closest CMS (that I've seen) to what I need there are still outstanding issues:

1)  All users can access each other's images.  I need each user to have their own images/media folder to which only they have access.
2)  I really like that each user can only modify their own content.  It would be great if they could modify the structure of their pages relative to each other without having access to other user's content pages.

I'm still willing to pay someone to come up with a solution.

Thanks!

I'm thinking that if you make users and give them their own pages and then when they go to add images and have to upload them, if you try to add images the popup will take you to the images folder and it has a browse button that takes you to your own comp. to find files to upload, maybe if they upload them this way it will only let them have access to them and not others that have been uploaded by someone else...

I'm not sure this will work but it can't hurt to try...

I´m looking for the exact same thing.  :P

Well, I'm posting a project online to have programmers bid on it, so if people are interested in chipping in, send me a message.

I'd be interested in working on this project for the 1.0.x series, either in a module and/or via modifications to the core.  it's not a simple project though, and may take a considerable amount of time to integreate properly into CMS Made Simple.

My base rate is $65US/hr for development work (1/2 upfront), so we'd have to scope out a firm and well defined requirements list, and then an estimate of the time involved to come up with a cost.  But if a group of you are serious about it, get ahold of me.

Hey calguy, since I didn't get a lot of follow up I'm having a new simple solution build from scratch (not connected with CMSMS).  I still believe this functionality is seriously needed as I haven't found a single CMS that handles multiple users with separate content / media very well.
