Landing page SEO implications

Hi All.
I have a client that have separate divisions in the same business. They prefer to use one domain for email and website purposes, but they want to direct customers to one of the two divisions via a landing page.
It's easiest to explain by means of an example. A financial institution with business and personal banking. They want to use the domain greatbank.tld They want clients to arrive on a landing page that gives them two options, to go to business or personal. One the client chooses an option, they want the entire experience to be centered around hat part of the business, including the look and feel. So they don't want a menu option that can take clients from the one to the other, but they do want a link back to the landing page. Imagine it as a tree structure. Clients can go back up the tree, but can't go from one branch to the next.
Now all of this is do-able, but i was wondering what would be the best way to approach this (separate installations or just separate templates and menus?) and secondly if there will be any SEO drawbacks to having a landing page without any real content and just a choice between where to go next?
Your time and feedback is much appreciated.
