Is anyone, or are there plans in the works for, serving up content from multiple databases, including cloud based NoSQL databases?

It would require stating a need, writing the requirements, and a company/developer sponsoring it.

Currently there is nothing limiting a UDT or a module from setting up another DB connection and storing/retrieving data from another source.

I know that people have used UDT to connect to different DB to import information from 3rd party sites/software.

As this is most likely a very unique specifications it will probably not make it into the core.
