I am running CMS 1.12 with CGBlog 1.13.1. I am having an issue with CGBlog.

I have added about 10 entries to the Blog. Each entry has a Title, Summary, Content, and several additional fields. I input my content into each of the fields, and then saved the blog entry. When I re-opened the blog entry to edit it in the admin area, the content disappears, and is replaced by the Summary content. This happens almost immediately.

The only thing that is different, which I don't even think matters, but I will mention, is that my Summary is plain text, and my Content is formatted with <p></p> tags.

I am not sure what is going on. If this is a bug with the Blog, should I submit a bug ticket in?

I just tested, created a bunch of different test blog articles and had no issues.

The rule is... if you know exactly how to reproduce this issue and can tell me exactly how to reproduce it... then yes submit a bug report.

Bug reports are for reproducible issues. If you can't reliably reproduce it, If you are just wondering, or if it works on one site, but not another... then you need to do some research before submitting a bug report. Sometimes it is simple, sometimes it is not. But bug reports without detailed steps so that somebody can reproduce and therefore fix the issue are meaningless.

I have gone through this in several ways and the Summary always overwrites the Content. Has been an issue for anybody else before? Or have I missed something in the configuration/set-up/functionality of the Blog.

I can create a work around of a new text area field, and add my content there.

No related bug reports so far.

So. make sure that it's not your browser, or browser plugins causing the issue
Make sure it's not your host with mod_security
Make sure that it's not a silly mistake by you and some customization of templates

Install another test site, and see if you can reproduce the issue.... even on a local PC.

And of course, as always watch your error logs.

Thank you for those tips. I will work through what I can, but I think for the sake of time, will probably just add another text area for my blog content, and call it a day.

Just as a note, the error is for sure in the CGBlog admin area where you add your entry, and has nothing to do with a "silly" user error in a template. I added 24 blog entries in setting up this module. The content for all 24 entries was overwritten by the summary field.

1. At first I did think it was a "silly" user error, and that maybe I "forgot" to add my blog content.
2. So I started all over, adding my blog content in. I re-added 3 entries from a back-up.
3. Then I went in to make a change to a headline to one of those entries, and saw that my blog content had disappeared.
4. So then I started running some tests, and saw that this was actually happening.

Are you saying that at re-opening the article, first the original content is there and it gets replaced while you're watching?

Hi. Sorry, this is what I mean by "almost immediately":

I submit the article.
After the article closes, and I reopen it.

In that time between when I submit the entry, and reopen the the content has been replaced by the summary. So it doesn't happen as I am watching. It happens during the save process.

Just another note. When I was installing the module, (and before I added any articles) I initially checked the option to "Hide the summary field when adding or editing entries". And then changed my mind, and unchecked the option. Maybe this has something to do with the issue.

Tested switch off the "Hide Summary field" box.

I can't reproduce the problem either.

Thanks for everybody's time with this. It seems to be something quirky going on with my system. I wish I had time to troubleshoot more with this but am in the middle of a giant website conversion. Thanks again.

When you have time it might be beneficial to hire a programmer to look at your system and see what is going on.
