After installing the modules 'Album' and 'Guestbook' via the XML-option, I'm not longer able to make directory changes or so. Is I ask the directory structure of the directory modules, I see the following data:

Code: Select all

drwx------   7 apache   apache       1024 Oct  4 05:22 Album
drwxr-xr-x   5 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:10 CMSMailer
drwxr-xr-x   5 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:12 FCKeditorX
drwx------   7 apache   apache       1024 Oct  4 05:20 Guestbook
drwxr-xr-x   5 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:12 MenuManager
drwxr-xr-x   4 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:13 ModuleManager
drwxr-xr-x   4 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:13 News
drwxr-xr-x   3 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:13 Search
drwxr-xr-x   4 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:13 ThemeManager
-rw-r--r--   1 OOOOOOO psacln          0 Oct  4 05:12 index.html
drwxr-xr-x   4 OOOOOOO psacln       1024 Oct  4 05:13 nuSOAP
I'm not aware of being the user 'apache'. I'm the user 'OOOOOOO' (changed it for security reasons). Could it be that installing via XML makes use of a different user than the one logged on as CMSMS admin? Since I don't have shell access to the server, I'm not able to change it myself (if I'm correct).

Anyone who knows what might be the problem?

Thnks in advance!

That's why there's the 'Change Permissions' link beside each entry in the Extensions >> Modules Page.  This will recursively open up the permissions of each module so that you can make changes, edit files, etc.

Hopefully though, the need to move files around, and edit files will decrease in time though.

How do other users of cmsms deal with this? If one uses xml for installing modules, does that mean that the webserver becomes the owner of the new created directories? If so, what is the workaround to get control over the directories and files?

Ok, I posted an item about double buttons for creating a new Guestbook item. In the menu Extensions->Modules I see 'Change permissions' behind serveral modules. If I click one, the following message appears:
Couldn't change permissions on some files (Troubleshooting)
Without any clear explaination, after clicking on "Change ...' I see more or less modules. It seems very spooky...
