seeking advice on merging phpbb and cms made simple

Hi All,
Recently I'm thinking about merging phpbb with cms made simple. I'm jusing not sure whether I should make phpbb as a module of cms made simple or I should just use a link to link to it, then edit phpbb's template to match the cross-site look-and-feel?
Could anyone give some suggestions?
