Is a timed autoresponder email series possible to implement?

I have used newsletter made simple which allows for a single message to be broadcast to a list of subscribers.
I was wondering if it was possible somehow within CMSMS to create the functionality similar to an auto-responder like, getresponse or aweber?
For example somebody subscribes to the newsletter/list and then a prewritten email series is automatically sent out to them at specific intervals. The first on day 1 for example, another on day 3 and another on day 5 etc....
Does anybody know of a way of achieving this kind of functionality within CMSMS without using a 3rd party paid autoresponder service?
