Is it possible to resort (i.e. in alphabetical order) the entries in a ListIt2 generated module?

very basic. it's only a search-field-like filter that works in the frontmost page

In the backend you can sort by clicking on the arrows next to the item's name.
In the frontend you van use the sortby-function.

Yes, but this has effect only on the items on the page, not on all the Database
