Red X In Message

What does a red X signify when one applies a change to a page? The message begins with a green check mark and says something appearing to be positive, but ends with the red X. It is rather confusing. One does not actually know if it worked or not.

Not sure what you mean.
Can you post a screen shot?

Yes it's worked but it is confusing.

KitchM means this:

- Popup at top of window when you Apply changes to a page
- apply.jpg (10.86 KiB) Viewed 4693 times
If you click the red X it closes the notification but it will close itself after a few seconds.
Perhaps an underlined "Close" would be a better user interface than a red "X".

I would say that a Close would be better in this case...

I've found at least a dozen problems like this, but I'm glad you confirmed this one. It will be a more intuitive GUI once this is fixed.
Thanks much.

Probably best to post other suggestions in the Feature Ideas forum:

What would you suggest to replace it?

I suggest the word "Close", as it is more standardized and most intuitive. If there is to be an automatice time-out setting, there would be a need for a user personalization of the adjustment somewhere.

Or how about "Page updated successfully" and give it a two second fade out? No X's or check marks.

I will play with it this weekend.

The window should be hiding automatically in the first place...
I replaced the red X image in a faded black X like JohnnyB suggested in the OneEleven Admin theme of the coming 2.0 release.
Adding the word "Close" could give styling issues when used in combination with other languages. Just changing the image is enough for this moment...
Will ask Uniqu3 later if he has a better idea.

Wish there was a "thumbs up" smiley.
Looking good Rolf.
