CMS 2 core translation string discrepancy

I’m currently working on translating the CMS 2 core to German and I found a discrepancy in the way something is expressed in English and German.
In the DesignManager’s template list there is a small tooltip with details about the template. There you see the “Modified Date” entry. For relative dates in English you would say “x minutes ago” while in German you’d say “vor x Minuten”, i. e. you would practically put the “ago” in front of the time.
There needs to be a way to make that happen because there is really no other practical/non-ambiguous way to phrase relative time in German. I’m thinking of making it one string with placeholder like I’ve seen elsewhere: “%s minutes ago”, so I can do “vor %s Minuten”. Makes sense?
