hello all,

i found this description of how to setup products, cart and orders to get an e-commerce solution for cmsms.

the blog article is a bit older and some things in the products module have changed, especially the product-options are new.

i need it in the older way as described in the blogpost.
i am working on a site for handmade medieval shoes. the client is able to configure the shoes for his needs.

for example the size (7), the color (5), special used materials (4) an so on.
with the old method its easy to achive, i think. with the new product-options you get an endless list (140 combinations in the example 7x5x4) with all conceivable combinations.
i think selectable attributes like
size, color, material, extrasstuff would be nicer to configure the shoes, with less effort.

e.g.
baseprize: 100€
size 12 -> +10€
color red -> +10€
material suede -> +20€

now the question...
which version of products is the last which supported the old way of "add attributes" in the way it is described in the mentioned blogpost of calguy?
which version of cmsms, cart and order is needed to work properly?
or is there another way to achive the described functionality?

i would be happy about any support/reference.

If you do end up setting it up the 'old' way you most likely get any support if if/when you run into problems as older versions of CMSMS/modules aren't supported...

As to how to set it up, I believe products now use options instead of attributes with a lot more options like copying them to other products etc....
