[solved] - Can you use Cataloger for different catalogs...

Hello,

I have several different types of lists on a website where Cataloger would be useful (i.e. individual item/detail page & a category/landing page which lists highlights).

BUT the lists are all different. For example I have a people page, a clients page, a projects page - these all have very different content from each other.

When the end-users go to create a new entry I would like them to see a different form depending on which type of content they are entering (because obviously the fields for a person are different from the fields for a project).

I have installed Cataloger but it seems like it is intended to be used on a single product catalog.

I am not sure if Cataloger is the right tool for this job or is there a more suitable module I should be using?

Many thanks for any help or suggestions.
Adrian

There are a few modules that can get the job done, and some are specialized.
Cataloger is great but is limited to back-end users administration and submission, being itself a set of content types.
To cope with possible Front-end submission you may need to look to the FEU suite of modules, which can also be combined with Company Directory.
Another option would be ListIt2, also very powerful and customizable.
Or Products module which can be used stand-alone IIRC as a catalog.
I would test all these possibilities since you may have to use a combo of these (or not :) )
(there may be more modules, but these are the ones I know better)
Oh, and to answer your original question, yes Cataloger can deal with multi-categories, and personalize the fields for each category or type of item.

Thankyou so much. Listit2 is exactly what I needed - in fact it does more than I was hoping for. I can see that I am going to use it lots.
