I want to change the text color of the menu of my page. I want the text that has the maroon background (non-selected page) to be white and the selected page the viewer is on to still have the grey background, but black text.

I am using css horiz 1 col

Get firefox and webdev toolbar. in webdev toolbar select outline->outline current element and hover your mouse on top of one of the links. look at the bottom of the browser (at statusbar) and see the "path" to that element. now check your css stylesheets for those elements, one of the rules affects there.
