Hi All

Time to upgrade my cmsms, as modules are compaining about old version.

I have been seaching around for upgrade procudures but not cannot find the revelant info.

My question is can i upgrade from 1.9.1 to the latest stable version? with diff package or install compete package over 1.9.1.

I am a home user so would like to use the correct procedure that will be the most stable upgraqde option.

ps. I am running cmsms on jumba shared hosting.

Ok have upgraded from 1.9.1 several times on a local windows server and on a test site with my hosting company as per here

Can some explain this:
Look at all of your User Defined Tags (UDT’s) to insure that they should be compatible with CMSMS 1.10. See the technical information below to see what has changed.
Techo stuff makes no sense to me.


My meus are breaking after upgrading to 1.9.3. using grass stain theme. i get a smarty error.

removed any add on modules not in use, upgraded all other modules.
Upgrade to 1.10, module manager is broken, complains about faltal error in listmodule.php, so cannot see my modules.

Am unable to install menu manager, returns an error, upgrasded manually but this did not help.

Seems going to 1.10 causes issues from 1.9.1

Any help appreciated.

Is it possible to install a virgin 11.3 then install my site ontop of this so its fresh and clean?

Well, sort of... If you have UDT's on you template's comment them out, one by one, to see if any of them, if not all, have code that is not compatible with CMSMS 1.10. For each one that breaks your page, you may have to post the code here, so that we may be able to try to help.

I wasn't able to find the theme you referred to, but I would bet that it still uses the deprecated tag {stylesheet} instead of the new {cms_stylesheet}. If that's the case, please read the Warning Notice on CMSMS Themes site with instructions on how to fix that. If that doesn't solve it, knowing what smarty error you get may give a clue...

Better to rename the module folders (add an underscore at the end for instance) of modules that are not part of the core and try to make a triage of which might be the one breaking. Please keep in mind that all most recent versions of Calguy1000's modules require as minimum PHP 5.3. So I recommend you check what PHP version you have and upgrade if possible.

You would be opening doors to all sort of problems, so the short answer is: "no"...
Upgrading is the recommended procedure for existing sites, particularly if you already have too much content and 3rd party modules.

Ok Have updated to version 11.3. on local server, where php is 5.3
menus in grass theme broken.
Follwed stylesheet change as per link. but think iam modifying wrong file as it just removes my header.

under global settings recieve this error

Regarding PHP. PHP is 5.2.7 ( jumba) so needs updating. Looking for new host, before i upgrade as jumba is so slooooow everything takes 3 times longer than it should. any recommendations.

While i am working on my theme. I want to change the look.
It looks like a portrait theme. I want to change it to look landscape, like the default theme that comes with cmsms. here is the site http://www.selfsustain.com.au

Ok, first of all I believe there is some info missing:

• - it appears that the theme you are talking about (grass stains) is a backend theme, not a frontend... I'm not too experienced with backend themes but I must assume these don't use a {stylesheet} CMSMS tag but a regular HTML stylesheet tag, so I wouldn't change that.
• - being or not a backend theme I still didn't find it on the CMSMS Themes oficial site, so it's difficult to say if it is compatible with latest version of CMSMS.
• - In order to find the {stylesheet} tag you need to go to the template/s used by your pages. These are keept on a database, not on a file, and accessible through the backend on the layout menu.
• - as I said on my previous post, knowing exactly what was the error message on the smarty error would probably help.

The grass stain theme is one i downloaded off a cmsms site a few years ago, cannot rememeber if its official or not. I am guessing not.

I would like to stay with this theme. I know that the template is laid out differntly to the other supported themes. hence why the {stylesheet is not there?

So i need to resolve this before i upgrsde to 11.x.

I do not get the smart error ( i think that was an error i made during upgrading on my test server).
I have upgraded using the diff packages before going to 11.x. The menu simple are not visible.
