Admin theming

Is there a tutorial on how to build admin themes or should i just fork off default admin theme and mess around with that?
Sorry, other than the API documentation there are no guides to creating an admin theme.
However. DO NOT fork the default theme. It is no longer shipped with CMSMS, and does not work.
Infact, I would recommend if you are going to fork anything, to fork the OneEleven theme.
