page image and thumbnail selector not appearing

Hi,
I'm having an odd problem with a new installation of version 1.11.2 - the Image and Thumbnail dropdown selectors no longer appear in the Options section for each page. They show up fine in a slightly older installation (1.10.3) that I am also using.
Apologies if i'm missing something very obvious but I've not been able to find any info on this..
