Listing Child Nodes in Menu of Template

I am trying to get the vert menu in a template I got from http://themes.cmsmadesimple.org/Full_Themes.html to work with sibling nodes the exact way that EllNav Horiz/Vert L 1col does, by indenting the child nodes in the menu under their parent categories.

The template I am using is here:
http://livesafely.org/test.html

Should I be calling the Default CSSMenu Vertical stylesheet somehow using some kind of call like:
{cms_module module='menumanager' template='ellnav-accessible.tpl' start_level='2' collapse='1'}
or something like that?

(Sorry for such a silly question, but the thing that throws me off is trying to visualize how the CMS assigns the hierarchial menu structure, and also how multiple stylesheets work together. I guess I never really understood the idea/benefit of splitting the Default CSSMenu Vertical and Horizontal CSS sheets from, say, the EllNav H/V L 1Col CSS sheet itself.)

I am using 0.12.1

many tks in advance!
