instant chat same as facebook one

Hi everybody,

i did an instant chat same as facebook one, with jquery, witch works perfectly.
several windows can be opened for several chats at the same time (1 chat window -> 1 user chat)
the only problem i have is when i change page or refresh it, the chat windows close themselves because i don't have a sytem to remind witch chats were opened before change or refresh.
i would like to find a system for chat windows stay open when i refresh or change page but i don't really know the way to do it.
each chat window has an unique id.
On page refresh or change, i need to retrieve the différent chat window id to open them again.

What is the best way to do this?
