<SOLVED>Is it possible to install entire CMSMS site on a cd?

Hi, I have my site running online just fine, but it has lots of modules, menu manager, search, etc.. and I have been asked if it's possible to take the entire site, put it on a CD and have it run off the cd in case there was no internet connection.

Sounds too easy, but is it possible?

What little I know about local machines is that I would have to locally install something like XAMP, then install CMSMS on the local computer, transfer all images and files to the local computer, etc. But I'm not sure if that would even totally recreate the site as it currently runs on a real web server.

Any clarification on this would be greatly appreciated.

CD's are read-only.... CMSMS needs read/write access to the filesystem and to the database. So essentially the answer is 'no'.

However it is possible to install LAMP on a USB thumb drive, and have it run from there.

But if you have a live website somewhere, and you want the USB thumb drive / other computer to have up-to-date information incase somebody cuts the big internet wire, then you have to regularly sync everything from the live site to the backup site.

Thanks for the quick response calguy. I'll look into this, if we end up going with this solution I might have some questions later.

If you want to run it on a windows system there's actually a program called "usbwebserver" that is a very easy to install WAMP webserver... http://www.usbwebserver.net
