Hello everybody,

when I edit an existing page I sometimes want to save the changes but I don't want them to show up in the frontend immediately, e. g. if me or an other editor wants to review the page before publishing the changes.

By default the page editing form of CMSMS only gives me "Submit" and "Apply", but not something like "Save draft".

Is there any module or workaround (maybe by coping the page, editing the copy and then overwrite the original page with the copy?) providing this function?

You can copy the page then make your changes, when it is looking like what you want change the original, there is no Draft mode in pages...

Hmm, copy and paste seems to be quite error-prone especially using a WYSIWYG-editor like TinyMCE.

But as there are no other suggestions I will mark this topic as solved nevertheless.

I don't think Dr.CSS meant use the WYSIWYG copy/paste. He meant use the "copy page" button to create an exact duplicate of the page you want to work on. Then make the changes you want, let others review, etc. When it's ready for publication, you can do 1 of 2 things:
1. copy the entire HTML source of that page (toggle WYSIWYG off, then select all and copy) and paste into the original page, replacing all of the original code

2. Delete the original page, then change the alias (and custom URL, etc.) of the new (duplicate) page to those of the original page. Not sure this would be a great option, as it would mean that the page would be unavailable for the short amount of time it takes you to make the changes. Also, if any code anywhere refers to the pageid instead of the page alias, I believe this method would break that code.

This is one of the reasons I have planned a move to Wordpress.

Wordpress has autosave, save as draft and you can edit the title and meta description handily at the same page.

Get me that to CMSms and I will jump for joy.

This is a feature of News and also CGBlog. You can save drafts for review and come back to them later.
Its not something that would be needed for pages really, only publications/blogs.

You can also edit the title and meta description handily in the same page. The former is built into the core and is called Title in page edit. The latter is available via a simple content block and some template tweaking by you, or via SEOTools.
