Modify admin menu

Post by sviatovigt »

Hi

First of all, please accept my apologize in case this is not the right section to ask my question or if this question has an answer in some other place which I couldn't find. I will ask a moderator to modify the post accordingly.

I have came upon an website built with CMSMS. I'm not the developer of that site, I'm just the developer that has to do some maintenance activities. Yes, I'm new to CMSMS.

The site was black listed by Google because of some strange requests that it was doing. After researching the cause of this issue, I have decided that one of the best things to do is to upgrade CMSMS. I have successfully did that, but unfortunately I didn't pay attention to the Gallery module which, at this moment, is not working. I realize that investigating the problem and repairing it by modifying the code, is not a viable option, so I decided to update/reinstall gallery module. Unfortunately, I don't know how to do it, because the admin of the CMSMS doesn't contain all the options that CMSMS has upon a new installation. In the admin of CMSMS, I can't find the button Extensions.

Now, in the database, in the table cms_content of a new installation, there is a record that has the value "Extensions" for the field `content_name`. In my installation of CMSMS, I do not have that record.

My questions are:
- is it possible that the developer did change the core files of the CMSMS in order to obtain this customized version?
- how can I revert to a normal installation of CMSMS?
- is there some other option of reinstalling a module without using the admin?
- can I control the website through out another CMSMS installation?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards!

It sounds more like you do not have sufficient permissions or something went wrong when upgrading.

Hi uniqu3 and thank you for your reply.

I doubt about the fact that it might be a user permission related thing, since in cms_users I'm an administrator, and the content of cms_content table is different from the one of a new installation. On the other hand, the old version of the site, before upgrading CMSMS, has the same admin menu.

If all the files/folders etc. are there for all the modules/plugins then it has to be an admin permissions problem, in the DB look for user ID 1 and make sure that is the log in you use...
