TinyMCE not showing. MicroTiny ALWAYS there

Hi,
I have a fresh install of 1.10.2
No matter what I do in global settings I cannot disable MicroTiny.
I simply want TinyMCE as I need to be able to add images, which MicroTiny just doesn't do (Which seems very silly - Everyone puts images into pages - Designer or novice)
OK, so I need TinyMCE ....
I've installed via XML, I've uninstalled and installed via FTP, I've deleted the TinyMCE folder and downgraded NOTHING.
No matter what I do (and yes, I have been clearing cache in browser and CMS) I cannot get TinyMCE to show up.
I even tried uninstalling MicroTIny, but still no TinyMCE, just raw HTML.
HELP!!!

OK, seen the settings where I can add images in MicroTiny (which makes more sense)
But I would still like TinyMCE

Doesn't tinyMCE show up under extensions, have you set it to be your default editor?...

It shows up and is installed ..
And yes, have set it as my default editor ... I even removed MicroTiny .... But whatever I do TinyMCE will not show up.
Even older versions.
I even set my default editor as NONE and still got MicroTiny (It only didn't show when I intentionally uninstalled it.)
Weirdest thing ever.

No matter what I do in global settings I cannot disable MicroTiny.
In 1.10.x the only preference that I can see (just looked) for the wysiwyg is which wysiwyg editor to use on the frontend. Not in the admin.
For the admin, the preference for the wysiwyg is in the "user preferences" and can be different for each user.

I have my admin user preferences set to TinyMCE and it still doesn't show up. Also if I set it to Micro Tiny it doesn't show up.
Looking at my system information page, I have a few yellow flags. I wonder if it could be to do with any of the following which are showing up as a yellow warning, in particular the disable_functions issue:
- disable_functions in PHP (disable_functions)
Maximum Upload Size (upload_max_filesize)
Maximum Post Size (post_max_size)
Maximum Execution Time (max_execution_time)
I wonder if this is an issue with the server settings. I noticed recently that my ISP has been changing security settings after the whole site broke because of SecFilterEngine Off in the htaccess file (which was there to enable the Gallery module upload feature). I had to remove the SecFilterEngine Off line in the htaccess file to fix the site.

First: CMSMS Does not support mod_security. So SecFilterEngine should be off. Or find a different host.
Secondly, my only guess since there is nothing for environment information in this entire thread for me to go by is: there have been numerous ad-hoc reports that changing the permissions of the tinymce directory and/or all files in it have solved problems with TinyMCE... but of course there is never enough information for us to be able to reliably reproduce and diagnose the problem so it's just ad-hoc. Your mileage may vary.

Thanks for your assistance Calguy.
I found the solution for my problem by checking the server error logs (don't know why I didn't do this first) As it happens I must have at one time added an htaccess file inside the modules folder with SecFilterEngine off. As soon as I commented it out TinyMCE re-appeared. Might help someone else to know this, although it's probably unlikely to be an issue for others.

I am using 1.10.3 in a brand new installation. I have removed MicroTinyMCE and installed TinyMCE and configured it as the default WYSIWYG.
MicroTiny no longer shows but neither does Tiny, only the HTML editor.
This is the first time I have used 1.10.xx and I am tempted to ditch the whole thing and go back to 1.9.xx if this sort of problem continues.
Before I do this, any advice please. I am not good enough for a highly technical solution being just a simple website developer!
Thanks
Martin

Yes, I agree with you. I have been there but still I cannot get Tiny to work. The system still shows Micro Tiny.
My concern about this is not for me BUT for the end-editors of sites that I hand over to them. Tiny is user intuitive. Micro Tiny is not really that easy as so many icons are missing.
Seriously, the end user/editor/owner of a CMS site is, frankly, king.

I have just upgraded to 1.10.3 and TinyMCE will not display at all. I have un-installed and removed and installed the latest TinyMCE, no joy.
also set the folder permissions to 755 also no help.
The toolbar just does not display and ticking/unticking the "use WYSIWYG editor" checkbox does nothing at all.
Any suggestions appreciated.

Try checking out the 'user preferences' under 'my preferences'
